Commissioner Chip Baker has served our community with distinction since 2018.  He has diligently worked to ensure that conservative values are at the forefront of decision making in Hamilton County in supporting education, economic growth, and building our county infrastructure.

He and his wife moved to Chattanooga for his job as the Administrator of Children’s Hospital at Erlanger in 1992.  After working in healthcare administration for 20 years, he shifted careers and became the Executive Director of the Riverbend Festival.  In 2019, his career path naturally led him to teach management skills to our future community leaders through Crestcom, an international leadership training organization.

Commissioner Baker has a long history of public service.  He has served and volunteered on numerous boards and organizations including the Hamilton County Board of Education for 12 years.  He currently serves as a Commissioner on the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport Authority, and he is a member of the Downtown Rotary.  Chip has been a leader during his tenure serving the Hamilton County Commission and has been elected multiple times by his fellow commissioners to serve as Chairman and Vice-Chairman.

Chip believes his experience and results in business, his leadership serving our community on the School Board and County Commission, and the relationships he has built over his career, uniquely qualifies him to continue to lead our community and Hamilton County.  He understands the issues and will continue to make key votes that will ensure the success of our future.

Commissioner Baker has a master’s degree in health services administration from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Wooster.  He and his wife, Karlette, are members of Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church.  They have four grown children, who all graduated from Signal Mountain Middle/High School and the University of Tennessee Knoxville.
